It has no way of knowing that you performed the service. The service reset is triggered by mileage & time. It doen’t “test” the quality of the oil. If you have any BMW software like BimmerLink (there’s others, too Press and hold the RESET button. Then we press and hold the RESET button on the dash until we get it to come through to the service reset menus. Go to the ENGINE OIL. Just reset my service indicator for my 2008 328i, and as with the other owner, I like driving, I'm at 75000, and doing my own oil and brake changes. so it's nice to be able to reset the service indicators manually.The procedure noted above worked perfect. However the BRAKE light stays on because I need to replace the brake sensor, which was ups6y.
